Internet Explorer 8 to be released in H1 2008.

Microsoft has announced that Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) beta 1, is being targetted for release in the first half of 2008. And last week, IE8 reached a core milestone: IE8 in standards mode now correctly renders the “Acid2 Browser Test”. What’s ACID 2.0 and why is it important? What is “IE8 standards mode”? Why does IE need an additional standards mode, and other browsers don’t? Is this in response to Opera’s anti-trust filing with the EC last week?
