Vista Ult32 critical error = rebooting in temp mode...
Today I'd just finished watching a video in VLC and surfing in FFox and got a popup saying that Windows had a critical error and would restart. Okaaayyy... so it did so but displayed in temp mode and w/o any of my items {so sort of a safe mode}.
I shut down completely and restarted. Same mode displays. Says to check the event log:
Log Name: System
Source: DriverFrameworks-UserMode
Event ID: 10110
Level: Critical
User: System
OpCode: Info
Task Category: User-mode Driver problems.
Of course there is help which isn't.
Does this mean anything to anyone?
I ran my AntiV program - which is always running and it didn't find anything. Spyware same thing. Avast is uptodate. My OS isn't uptodate however... I have Hughesnet and d/ling files is a pita so it's not updated...
I have Vista Ultimate 32bit and enough umph for it and all that. I've not installed anything new recently or done anything different from usual in quite awhile. I don't have any weird programs installed. Nothing out of the ordinary. No conflicts previous to this melt down.
I have been getting notices every now and then that my OS might not be genuine. It came with the computer when I bought it and I'm not sure what to do about it - but could that be the problem?
There's no reason to think that it might not be "genuine" on my end but who knows.
Thanks for any help!
Oh, and if you need any buried info please tell me how to get to it. I'm not completely compy-illiterate but when it comes to system info and with Vista renaming things/hiding things that were easier to get to in prev. versions... it would be easier that way.
Thanks!
