Kindle for PC problems

I have a problem with this app failing to open. Windows closes it and give me a window calling for me to change my DEP settings, which I am reluctant to do as they are set for essential windows programs already.

Amazon has no solution. Anyone had the same problem or have a solutions?

when this is attempted, windows states it cannot allow an exception for Kindle for PC. I had already tried that---should have included that info in my initial post. thanks for your efforts anyway.
