Internet works but I can't log with steam or download updates for kasperky and other softwares

I'm running Windows vista ultimate 64 bit version. Internet is working correcly, I can access the web with mozzilla firefox or internet explorer, but I can' log on in steam (and if there's an update it remains blocked at 0%). After putting the password it remains frozen probably trying to connect to steam server. I can't also download updates using kaspersky (so my virus database is obsolete)...Can someone help me please? Thank you...

with stem try changing youre download location,go to settings and choose a different country or nearest area,make sure they are exeptions in youre firewall,if they arent make them so by adding there .exe file to exeptions,just an idea??
