Windows vista locked the only user

I am a long time user of VISTA. Never had this problem. I was testing some old software and also surfing on the internet. At thye end I ran zone alrm and it showed 9+spies but it removed. These were trackinng cookies. Thinking it would be a good idea to restart. I did that. Now when I entered my password, it displayed the main screen (wall paper) briefly and then locked. My password is correct. I am adminidstrator of this machine and there is not other user.

I tried to enter my password via ASCII (using Alt+ nemric key pad) No success.

Any advice other than reformat and reinstall.

ok i only have like one suggestion. trying going in through safe mode, if something has caused this problem maybe going in through safe mode. Actually try command promt, if you know it.
