Can't copy files from Vista to Win95b
I have a laptop with Vista Ultimate and an old laptop with Win 95b. They're connected through a 10/100 switch.
It was a bit of an "adventure" to get Vista to share its WiFi over the LAN and to get Vista to acknowledge the existence of the shared drives on the Win95 laptop.
I can ping both laptops and the internet from both systems and access the internet from them both.
What I can't do is get Vista to copy ANY file or folder from itself to the other laptop.
I have both drives (two FAT32 partitions) shared with FULL access and NO password, yet vista says "You need permission to perform this action" when I try to copy anything from Vista to Win95.
What part of NO SECURITY on Win95 does Vista not understand? I've searched the web for hours and found there are large numbers of people running into this problem where all versions of Vista will not allow some or all types of files to be copied to or from network shares on any other version of Windows, even when all security permissions on the share have been turned off.
Just getting Windows 2000 and XP to actually share a drive and make it accessible on a LAN is a pain in the arse, now Vista comes along and turns its digital nose up at all other versions.
