Sounds problem

Hi,
I have WAVS that I have used on XP, then upgraded the computer and installed Vista. I went into the Control panel - sounds and wanted to change the sounds,, eg, windows logon, Mail, etc, and found some are not playing when I add them. (or hit test)
However, play when I click on them in the folder. they play just fine.

Anyone have any idea as to why?
