Vista ultimate Upgrade

I have an upgrade disk for Vista ultimate. however, when I installed the upgrade I had two options, upgrade or custom install (including a clean install). If I were to select this second option would I be able to remove Windows completely, reformat my hard drive and reinstall Vista without having to install Windows 98SE, then XP Home, then Vista?
