Skype no sound 2009

Mmm every where I have searched I have come up with all the same answers and they are all dated two years ago, surely by now some one would have come up with an answer to my problem. My problem is this, I took my computer down to my service shop and they fixed the problem for me. I have no idea what they did because as soon as I came home I plugged everything including my head set and started skype to test it. It worked fine until I decided that if I was in another room I was unable to hear if any one was calling so I swapped to my speakers. I ran the same test did everything that I had been told to do and still NO SOUND! (sorry that was not me yelling at anyone just showing how frustrated I am at the moment.) I don't want to take this to shop again, although it is a free service for me. It would mean that I have to unplug everything carry my huge Vertigo to the car, pack the kids in the car and then unload us all at the shop and then load us all back up, do without a computer and my email for another day and a half as they are crazy busy down there. I really need to get this sorted so I can speak to my husband in the gulf.
In the Realtek Audo manager the sound is fine it is just on skype that I can not hear anything. I have even gone into their settings and done as the numerous results of this complaint has told me to do. I have the latest Skype as well. Any one please help me, thanks in advance. B
