Boot sector getting corrupted on hibernate
Hi,
For several months, I've been having a problem where occasionally after hibernating Windows Vista on my laptop, the computer won't boot. Instead of loading Windows after my BIOS finishes the POST, it simply sits there with a blinking cursor.
I used to dual-boot with Linux, and thought the problem might be related to the fact I was using GRUB as a boot-loader. But, I recently removed Linux and switched back to the default Windows boot-loader and just saw this problem again last night. It seems like under certain conditions, the boot-loader gets corrupted when I hibernate, and to fix it I have to boot from my Vista DVD and use the bootsect tool.
Has anyone else seen this problem, or does anyone have any ideas of how to fix it? During the time I've been seeing this problem I've formatted my hard drive and reinstalled Windows (for other reasons) and kept seeing this issue. The majority of the time hibernate works fine and causes no problems.
