Factory Image and XP transfer

VISTA - Factory Image and XP transfer
Hello,

I know that you may have had other ask but after searching for some time I am unable to answer my question without posting it here so fingers crossed.

I have just bought a new HP media PC and it has Vista Ultimate installed. The hard drive has a factory uimage and from what I can tell from this forum that is for a backup/recovery operation. My questions is this - I bought the easy transfer cable suggested to transfer files etc from my xp machine over to my vista - [COLOR=blue! important][FONT=verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif][COLOR=blue! important][FONT=verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif]connect[/font][/font][/color][/color]ed all ok etc but when it runs - I select the files and folders ok but it tries to save everything to my factory image part of the pc which obviously is only small circa 13Gb whereas the main C drive is circa 350GB and fairly empty!

I have searched help, called HP and to no avail - can someone help me please? - Why does the transfer point to the factory image part and not teh c drive? - drive letters are D for factory and C for main so that is all ok.
