Unable to Hibernate the System

I am unable to hibernate my system my system... When i instruct the computer to hibernate, for some 5 seconds the monitor turns off as if the system is hibernating and then the monitor turns on again and nothing happens...
My system configuration is as follows...
Intel D946GZIS Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo Processor
1 GB DDR2 Ram
160 GB Sata Hard Disk
I have 6 GB of free space left in C(System) Drive...

Can anybody plz tell the solution for this....

I had the same problem on my hp laptop, a dv9168cl, 3gig of ram intel 2 processor, i think its caused by a virus, but im sorry to say i cant say for sure however after i ran trend micro internet security and finally removed a trojan it no longer continued to drop out of hibernation, it happened twice to me, but im not sure it was the same trojan however after removing the virus i havent had the problmen again, hopefully this helps.

K i will look into it... Thanks for the info...
But as i observed i got more info about the problem..
If the hibenate option is enabled then none of the three viz. hibernate, sleep or stand by works...
But if the hibernate option is disabled then stand by and sleep works well..Any reason for this...

I have exactly same problem. My box is Core2Quad, 4GB RAM, Vista x64 SP2.
I have used SP1, everything worked ok, hibernation + hybrid sleep + sleep only (no RAM dump to HDD).
I decided to make clean install of Vista, then installed SP2, latest drivers. When hibernation is enabled (powercfg -h ON) the system tries to sleep, but wakes up after few seconds. Without hibernation (powercfg -h OFF) the sleep works fine.
I have tried all the advices in
Power Options and Sleep Mode Problems - Vista Forums
unfortunately, they did not help.
Can someone help me please?
