I upgraded this laptop from Vista Home Premium to Vista Ultimate (a recognized upgrade path by MS), and all works well except my built in Chicony Web Cam won't start.
I've tried removing and reinstalling the drivers, downloaded latest drivers from Asus support but I still get a yellow exclam in device manager and a message saying "Error 10 This Device Cannot Start" in properties (see picture).
I see from searching that several others have the same issue and that it may be Vista Ultimate being too fussy about certain aspects of the driver hardware and/or software.
1. In device manager right click the problem device (the camera with the yellow exclam) and choose 'Update Driver Software'.
2. At the next screen, click 'browse my computer'
3. Choose 'let me pick from a list
4. Choose the 'USB Composite Device', not the USB 2.0 xxxxx UVC webcam
I then got sucessful install messages and it worked immediately.
