Speakers won't work with Vista

I have a dell dimension e510. We recently had to replace the motherboard, and are running vista ultimate. The speakers are not working since we put in the new motherboard. We have tried just plugging a headset into the audio port in the back - and nothing works. When I test the sound from control panel - it shows that it is producing sound fine. We tried removing all the drivers and then reinstalling them. When the Dell service person came out he tested the hardware using the drivers and utilities disk and it produced sound, and he stated it was a software issue. I am not sure what else to do, and would greatly appreciate suggestions.

In control panel make sure that the sound is set for that output. I know using some USB accessories has changed the speaker output location sometimes. Also depending on what other software you have on the computer make sure its set to the same setting. Audacity threw me this curve when I first hooked up a turntable to an Ultimate based system.

I've just moved house and after setting up my pc and everything, my speaker(Logitech Z-5500 5.1) won't turn on, I've changed both fuse one at the back of sub woofer and the other one on the plug, but still nothing happens....what can be causing the problem please?
