Remote assistance using Vista and XP

My mother has Windows Vista and I have Windows XP. I have read and been told that I can remotely assist her.
I have went through all of the settings for her computer and mine to make this work, however when she sends me the invite and I try to accept, an error comes up telling me that the connection cannot be made, either due to a network issue, ticket expiration or make sure the sender has not cancelled the request.
There was/is no network issue, she didn't cancel the request as I was on the phone with her the whole time. If the ticket expired within the two seconds it took me to accept, then there's a problem...

I have Symantec Norton 360, as does she. I tried disabling but that still didn't work. I think the problem could be on my end but I can't be sure. I know this is a mixed question because it's Vista and XP, but can somebody please help me????????????

I had the same problem. I have Vista and my buddy has XP..we cannot do this either and I also have Norton 360.

If you cannot solve the problem, try using logmein free (www.logmein.com). It works across any operating system. You can even control a Mac desktop from your PC. It is simple to set up as well. Great for helping parents out with their computing problems.

I have the same set-up and same problem. Is there incompatibilities between XP and Vista remote assistance that anyone knows of?
