Vista Ultimate, SP1 took away my wi-fi and battery icons
My OQO 02 (a mobile PC) came with Vista Ultimate pre-installed. Being mobile, I keep an eye on my wi-fi signal strength and battery power level. So, I had those two icons configured to always show in the Notification Area (System Tray).

After installing SP1 last week, I noticed that my two favorite icons were gone. Not only are they no longer showing, they are not in the list to hide or show.

After checking device properties, Notification Area properties, and searching the web for an answer, I have un-installed SP1, but these two icons are nowhere to be found.

No, I don't have a restore point to go to. Yes, I can re-install from DVD, but I'd rather not.

Help?

Thanks.

Dammit. Just 10 minutes after posting this problem, I found the solution. This link was helpful:

Volume, Battery (Power) or Network Icon Disappear or Missing from Vista Taskbar Notification Area (System Tray) ╗ My Digital Life

I had right-clicked on the Notification Area, and selected "Customize Notification Icons...". That allows you to configure the display for everytyhing <except> the four system icons: Clock, Volume, Network, & Power.

However, if you right-click on the Task Bar, select Properties, and then hit the "Notification Area" tab, you can see the checkboxes for the 4 system icons. That's the ticket.

Now I feel stupid, but the issue would not have come up, if SP1 had not changed my settings for those two icons...

Cheers.
