Network Troubles

Ok so im having alot of trouble with my new external HD, currently we have my desktop running windows vista ultimate, and the two laptops running XP, currently when the two laptops go into "My Network Places" They can see the external drive but when they double click to enter, they get a message saying "\\Aries\super storage is not accesible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. Access is denied." Aries being my desktop and super storage being external. As for what I've done so far, I've set our network to private and made sure that "Network Discouvery/File Sharing/Public folder sharing" are all turned on, I've also made sure were all on the same workgroup as well as going into the advanced sharing options on the external drive and set the permisions on "Everyone" to allow Full control, Change and Read, but still they cant get the same message, so at this point im stumped and figured I'd come and see if anyone knew how to fix my little problem
