Vista Ultimate blue screen crash
Hi to all on this forum. I hope you can help me solve a problem which has been frustrating the hell out of me. I purchased a new laptop in Oct 2007 with Windows Ultimate edition. At the start of this month my PC started crashing showing a blue screen. Each time windows re-started I was asked to report the problem, which I did. However till now the crashes continue and I've started opening in safe mode in order to prevent the crash occurring again. I like the Vista system but can't use it any longer. Can anyone help me? I'm starting to wish I'd stuck with XP!

Any advice will be much appreciated.

What kind of blue screen crash is it?
Does it look something like this?
Quote:
royal.sys

An attempt was made to write to read-only memory.
Technical information:

*** STOP: 0x000000BE (0x81801170, 0x01801121, 0x82285A3A, 0x0000000B)

*** royal.sys - Address 80642389 base at 8063E000, Date Stamp 45e7c315
If so, it could be caused by (win32 Fujacks) or some other
undocumented computer virus in the wild.

Probably an incompatible driver- or USB susystem
Hi,

The only blue screens I had on Vista Ultimate in the beginning were related to the USB subsystem, but Microsoft fixed that with a Windows Update.

I have had a lot of experience with XP, and in all cases I have encountered, it was a lousy written driver that was causing the problem. Evidently some software writers have never heard of exception handling.

It was especially true for the old Orange Micro USB2 PCMCIA cards before computers started putting them in by default.

Rob.
