I am trying to add an external drive enclosure to my Vista Ultimate setup. I bought the firmtek seritek 5PM enclosure with the Sonnet Tempo E4P Sata card. I want to stripe 5 500GB drives together in a RAID 0 configuration to run under Vista. I am going to be using this drive as storage for all my photos to edit. Should I do this under disk management or is there another solution? Will I get good performance striping them with Vista DM?
hey there, i've got the same problem. I actually just set my vista machine up as a media center and had 3 500 gig drives. In order to get them into a software raid setup i had to actually install the drives onto a server machine because vista only offers to stripe the data; but does not provide fault tolerance. I have however heard of making a few mods to the system so that you can do raid but i haven't tried it. You could always spend a bit of cash at newegg.com for a raid card.
