Media Center Networking questions
I am planning on adding a DIY media center to my existing home network. I currently have a laptop running Vista Ultimate and one PC running XP. My media server, which will be attached to the television as a monitor primarily - don't expect to watch t.v. through the media center - will be running XP.
My question: First off, can I do this? To get the most of vista media center, must I have it installed on my server? if not, am I limiting myself with the functions of media center? what will I be missing?
Thanks to anyone who can help. I spoke briefly to microsoft tech support on this and got a standard sales type answer of 'it is better to have vista installed on all machines'. absolutely not helpful. Hope someone here can be.
Cheers,
jon
