Vista Sysprep Answer File Problems
I am having trouble creating an Sysprep answer file in Vista Business SP1 (with AIK). Sysprep wants to do too much and then causes the image to freak out. I would like to continue to use our hard disk duplicating machine (Logicube Omniclone) instead of having an image deployed via a network share. With Window XP Pro, I simply installed and configured Windows XP Pro and all the applications I wanted. I then syspreped that installation with an answer file with the answers to all the questions that the mini-setup would ask... to skip the EULA, administrator password, locale information, product key, Full Name / Organization Name, to generate machine names, do a hardware scan, etc. The basic stuff that you create with SetupMgr.exe. I would then clone that hard drive to other hard drives as needed. I would then boot those hard drives and the mini setup would kick in and use the answer file for all the questions. Can I still deploy images using this replicating device? I have already created and configured all the accounts. I want Sysprep to seal the image and give me a new SID and I only want the answer file to answer the questions that the Welcome will ask. I would like everything else to remain the same on the image (I only want to have to name the machine and add it to the domain when Sysprep is finished running). The replicating device handles all partitioning and formatting. I also use KMS activation.
