How to backup registry

Ref. Windows Vista Home Premium, 32 bit

I recently backed up my registry using regedit, recommneded in Help.

I was told on another newsgroup that using regedit was not the best method to use.

The other group recommneded using Backup, but I cannot find instructions for using this programme to backup the registry.

On reading the Microsoft tech help pages, they recommend using 'systempropertiesprotection', in the Start Search box, but this does not appear to make a file that can be stored.

Any advice greatfully received.
