Re: back up files
I'm assuming that you used Vista's "Backup and Restore Center" to do that backup.
After searching on Vista's help files, I found that the backups are located at <backup location>\Backup Set <year-month-day> <hour>.
So, have you already tried going there and deleting that folder?
Also, if Vista says that E:\ (Data) is almost out of space, then probably the backup is located on E:\Backup Set <year-month-day> <hour>.
Edit: By <hour>, Vista means <hour minutes seconds> (without any spaces), so if the backup was made at 16:45:12, it would become 164512.
Edit2: Also, you should go to C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Local\Temp and delete everything you can (there), just to make sure the backup didn't partially stay there. There are some files that Vista can't delete because that are being used, so just click "Ignore" when that happens.
