USB Ports and Mouse

I am having difficulty in getting USB ports to recognise my mouse.

I have looked in 'Device Manager' under 'Universal Serial Bus Controllers' and note that 'Generic USB Hub' has a yellow triangle.

Properties tell me ' Thgis Device Cannot Start (Code 10)'.

How can I rectify the problem, should I simply update the driver?

I seem to be moving around the USB ports with the mouse.

If I uninstall the USB hub driver, then reboot will Vista re-install the driver automatically?

What does the Generic USB Hub do?

I have searched for updated software.

Results: Online, ('Up To Date'); search in c:\ ,('Up To Date').

It is important that I do not lose control of the mouse.
