Snipping Tool & Picture Folder Hanging While On Line

My newest problem is while I am on-line, even if I'm not actively surfing the web, (all I have to do is have the modem on), I find if I'm using my Snipping Tool, the only way I can get out of it is thru Task Manager.

Likewise, only when my modem is on, if I go into my Pictures Folder, it hangs & the only way to get out of it is thru Task Manager.

The problem during both episodes is AppHangB1.

Anyone know how to solve this or what causes it?

Modem is a Westell Model 6100G

I'm still having this problem. Just as long as the modem is on, my Pictures Folder is extremely slow to load, or it goes into 'not responding'. If I shut the modem off, the folder loads instantly, even if it had been not responding.

Snipping Tool is still impossible to get out of after using. Have to click on it 4 or 6 times before I get the window that says 'Snipping Tool Not Responding'. But it only happens while the modem is on.

What does the modem being on & connected to the internet have to do with causing the pictures folder or snipping tool to hang?

I copied a Snipping Tool application from another computer in hopes that replacing the file currently on my computer would solve this miserable problem.

I tried to delete the current one, but Windows wouldn't let me. So, I put the second Snipping Tool (from the other computer) in the System32 folder anyway but as a (2) file.

The one I copied from another computer is version 6.0.6000.16386

The one that repeatedly hangs is verison 6.0.6001.18000

Didn't make a difference anyway....When I clicked on it, all I got was a small blank window with a red 'x' in it. No snipping tool. I continue to use my miserable 6.0.6001.18000 version.
