No DNS Cache (DNS Client) in Services
HELP! I have an HP laptop with Vista Home Premium on my network. I also have an XP Pro desktop and a Windows 7 laptop. I am having trouble sharing from the vista machine. I have read forums for 2 days and am completely stuck. What I know:
1. I can see the vista machine from both xp and win 7 computers
2. I cannot access the vista from either
3. I can ping by ip address from any machine
4. I cannot get a reply from any machine when pinging the computer name to the vista machine.
5. It appears to be an issue with the DNS Client on the vista....
6. I try to "start" the DNS Client service in the vista services under adm tools
7. DNS Client (or anything that looks like its close to that name) is NOT listed.
Why???? Do I have a bad vista OS?
Please help me, I'm going crazy trying to figure this out.
