Hi everyone
I'm having 2 problems with Vista 32 H. P.
The first is that everytime I boot my laptop, I find that task scheduler has encountered a critical error and has automatically restarted. The event ID is 412 and the error code is 214794202. I have checked the scheduled jobs and none report that they have failed. I have searched the internet, but the suggested resolutions did not solve my problem.
I have a second problem, that may be related to the first (this is why I didn't post as separate threads). The problem is that system restore fails with and unknown error. Here is wahat event viewer shows:

Latest ms updates and bios installed. No BSOD's. Here is what I have tried to resolve the problem. Ran SFC - no problems detected. Ran other diagnostic software including registry checkers - no active x problems or missing files or folders. Ran different anti malware programs (one at a time with all others uninstalled) - no malware detected. Created new user with admin privileges. Created manual restore points. Different restore points. Safe mode. Used SR on recovery disk. Get the same message (except for recovery point used) every time. Other programs function normally except task scheduler as noted and user account:
after creating new user to run SR and then switching back to original user, I had problems deleting new user even though I have admin privileges - finally fixed problem but it was not the normal way of going to User Accounts, clicking on delete account and delete files - files and folder did not delete.
also note that I installed ie9 didn't like it and went back to ie8
