Windows Mail not recognizing updates in Contacts

Hi. This is my first time to post in this forum.
I recently had a new hard drive put in my computer. Reloaded Contacts but when I attempted to send an email to an individual ie pclent, when I click on "To" in email, that email contacts list is not current (has old info) vs. when I click on "Contacts" which I just updated. I was not able to find a thread which addressed this. Your guidance would be most welcome. Thanks.
