Pointer willl not select clicked item

I don't know if I'm in the right forum, but am having a problem with my pointer.
Generally, it becomes the hand with one finger (links pointer), and I cannot select anything. ie. I wanted to print a map, and pointer becomes hand. Will not click to print. Can anyone help?
