Active Domain Services currently unavailable

Have Toshiba Satellite laptop and used HP Deskjet 6988 printer for many months with no serious problems. Suddenly, get active domain services currently unavailable. Do not recall having changed any pertinent setting that would cause this to suddenly happen.

Internet solutions such as printer > run as administrator etc. don't seem to help.

Does anyone have other possible solutions?
