Problems with arranging and renaming image files
Hello,
I am experiencing problems with image file arranging and renaming in Windows Vista, and have not been able to get a helpful response from Microsoft.
I work with a lot of image files that have to be separated, rearranged, and renamed. I am used to doing this by first separating files into different folders then dragging files around in their folder until I have them all in the order I want. Then I click on Edit, Select All, and then File and Rename. This allows me to rename the first image in the folder (for example, "Name (1)") and then hit Enter. Normally when I hit enter the files will be renamed as, Name (1), Name (2), Name (3), and so on in consecutive order without any problems.
Recently, Windows will not save any rearrangements, will completely rearrange the files when I rename them, and then will often give two different files the same name, for example Name (1), Name (1), Name (2), Name (2). In other words, it's not saving any of my work.
It is extremely frustrating as I will often spend considerable time arranging images and then I lose my work when I try to rename them.
Has anyone encountered this problem before? Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.
