Windows Updating problem code 80070005

I am running a home basic 34bit vista premium
Dell Studio 1735 (not sure how much info required) when i ask for a windows update i get the message 80070005 i have tried so many different possible cures but none seem to be with regards to updates. Any Idea's? Much appreciated
