White Screen after Login

Hi, i've had problems with my Vista laptop for sometime but today it got worse. Startup has been taking nearly about 7/8 minutes each time but now when i login it is just a whitescreen wit the cursor. i can start task manager and shut down but i must startup in safe mode to do anything which is very inconvenient.

Does anyone know what is the problem, and how i can sort it out. Please also be aware that i no longer have my repair dvd as i have had the laptop a couple of years,

I don't know what the problem is, but don't expect a reply at all. I posted a simple question 2 months ago and not one reply. I suggest posting this problem elsewhere where other computer enthusiasts care and are willing to help, unlike this site.
