Mat****a dvd drive

Ok I'm new to this site. So here goes. I have an HP Laptop Pavilion, Vista Home Premium. SP2.
Problem: MAT****A DVD-RAM UJ-851S ATA Device.
i get Code 10. unusable dvd drive. Nothing works. MS tells me that the drivers I have are uptodate. Can't restore from dvd I created. DVD drive do not work. WHAT CAN I DO to resolve this problem. HELP.........................

Hi Squeaky. I had a similar problem a while ago and after shopping around in the internet i eventually found these two sites and managed to fix the problem. It may or may not help you but it is worth a try.
Your CD or DVD drive cannot read or write media
