problem with vista home premium service pack 2

Ok my automatic update wont update anything it says,
windows could not search for new updates
an error occurred while checking for new updates for your computer.
errors found:
code 80070002 windows update encountered an unknown error.

ive tried almost everything in the get help with this error section.and ive got the fix from microsoft.com and it did not work...any help would be much appriciated.


My OS is windows vista home premium service pack 2. If you need any more info let me know.
