Corrupt registry entries for DVD drive and modem
Hi all,
I have a vanilla Acer laptop that I use almost exclusively for web browsing, running Vista Home Premium. A little while ago i switched the machine off without shutting down properly and ever since I have not been able to use my usb modem (a bog standard vodafone thing) or the factory installed DVD drive. This is despite uninstalling the modem and installing again. Helpfully, acer didn't supply any disks so I haven't gone further in the reinstalling drivers game.
Device manager shows the warning triangle against the two devices, and when I pull up the properties it says for both the DVD drive & modem:
'Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged (code 19)"
I've attached screenshots of the properties.
Please can anyone advise a remedy for this issue?
Many thanks.
