USB devices ask for driver

My Toshiba L300 Satellite notebook running Vista 32-bit asks for a driver when I plug in new USB devices such as USB hub and card reader. My USB mouse, digital camera etc all work fine. These new devices work fine on any other computer I've tried them in. I know drivers are not required for them. How do I fix this?
