Programs occasionally freezes - Hard drive problem?
Greetings,
First of all, I hope this is the right place to start a thread relevant to my problem.
Now, it all started when my computer got slower all of sudden. I figured I just had to defrag my computer, and it would all be fine. But no, it kept on going. Slow internet browsing, programs freezing often. I figured I had to reformat. A fresh install. But the problem kept occurring. Less often, but still happening.
I tried running the tool for checking the hard drive. It did find some errors it seems, but it kept on going. And now video games with the engine "Source" (E.G Counter-Strike: Source) wouldn't work properly.
So I reformatted again. And it still kept on going. So this time, I ran the hard drive tool (chkdsk), with both options checked. I let it run for a long time. About 18 hours actually. I was there at the last seconds, where it apparently reported some errors and said it would correct them. But then there was a glimpse of what could be a blue screen, and it just restarted.
The windows menu came up, saying that something might've happened to my hard drive and asking if I wanted to run it in Safe Mode, Normal mode etc. I ran it in normal mode. The computer restarted yet again, and then just went back to checking my hard drive for problems, thus not allowing me to start the computer.
TL;DR: I reformatted two times, ran the hard drive fix tool but still no luck. Source games don't work properly, and programs freeze occasionally.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
- Mathias
