Folders and files were mysteriously lost from the desktop ????

When I turned on my notebook today , all folders and files were gone... Yes... mysteriously gone. Could not find any of those files and folders in the Recycle bin. Please provide instructions as to how I can restore these files and folders... Or I can't at all ???

Sorry I can't help, but it just sounds like another of those annoying habits of Vista. Apart from the comments I have just posted about the wheel of death.

I never know WHERE a file is going to be saved to when I Save As. It doesn't seem to matter if I have sselected a folder or not, Vista seems to want to save it to where Vista wants it to. I have even known it to change names of a file.

Have you tried looking for a folder of the same name elsewhere. I was doing some housework on my hard drive a couple of days again and found THREE folders called DOCUMENTS!

Thanks so much for sharing ! Well, you're right ! I found some of my files in a folder called CONTACTS !! What's going on ???? In fact, I some of my folders were really 'messed' up. My Document folder was also saved in CONTACTS folder ??? Even my 'favourites' on the internet explorer were completely 'wiped out' ... huh ???? So , I did a system recovery ... What a pain !!!!! Well, I hope that my problems are over now... Ken, thanks once again and have a good week !
