Weird scrolling issues
I have problems scrolling in windows that have drop down menues. I can click in a drop down menu and the following happens:
If it's something like on the registration page for this site (where is asks you to choose your month of birth for instance) I can not get the menu to display, it will flash for a microsecond and I find myself having to guess by pressing the letter of the month to choose the option.
If I go to a menu that already has something selected like the Windows Time Zone section when adjusting the date/time, if I click in the drop down menu, I will automaticly scroll to the top of the menu...
If I use the scroll wheel on the mouse to scroll down, the menu will bounce as Windows tries to scroll up, and the mouse tries to scroll down.
Other weird issues I find are the following:
I can not see a cursor on some screens... this one for instance is just a blank window. I can not tell where my cursor is until I type something.
If I try to drag and drop a desktop icon, it drops it into the upper left corner of the screen. So high that you can only see the bottom right corner of the text belonging to the icon.
The icon and the scrolling issue happen at the same time and can only be fixed by unplugging and plugging the mouse back in.
I have tried the following:
I have tried updated mouse drivers
I have tried different mice
I have disabled the touchpad
I have made sure that Windows was completely up-to-date.
This is a brand new laptop that is less than a week old.
Latop specs are:
Gateway P-7805U
Intel Core 2 Duo CPU P8400 @ 2.26GHZ
4GB DDR3
Windows Home Premium 64bit SP1
Completely stock, no new software other than windows updates
I can scroll a website just fine, I can scroll this text window just fine. I can right click an icon and use the drop down menu just fine. The mouse I use does not matter, I have tried wired and wireless mice.
Can anyone help?
Thank you!!
