Can't connect to the internet - major problems
I am running Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit. I am not connected to a router or wireless. I have cable from wall, to cable modem, to computer. Everything worked fine yesterday, today I can't connect to the internet. I spoke with tech support from my ISP (cox communications). We tried everything. The last guy I spoke to suggested that I read article 928233 as this is a known issue with Vista. I don't know if this will help me or not. The IP address I get shows a 169 number, which they told me was no good. My firewall is off and it won't let me turn it back on. I can't run other troubleshooting helps as it won't let me do that either. I need some serious help and I can't afford to pay someone to fix it. Please help!!!!
