A New Problem with Internet Explorer

I was having a problem with IE restarting. Now about every 30 minutes or so it just freezes up. My mouse will not have any affect on any part of the screen except the start menu when I am able to restart the computer. However it takes 10 minutes for the computer to finally shut down. I have used task manager to shut down IE but even though the screen will clear, IE will not restart until I restart the computer. Any help would be much appreciated.
