Epson Perfection 1650 scanner in Vista 64-bit

Epson USA does not have a 64-bit scanner driver. I was told that Epson UK has a Vista driver that will work with 64-bit. I did download a 64-bit driver from Planet64amd, but the user interface sucks. I cannot scan directly to the printer.
Any suggestions as to how to use my Epson Perfection 1650 scanner on Vista 64-bit. It is a new computer so I do not have any Epson software previously installed.
