Cannot play CD's

I have tried to play some of my own CD's Icreated with windows XP, but none of them play on my new PC with Vista. Even store bought will not play all the way through, just half a track then it skips 3 or 4 leaves them with stars by their side & plays half a track,then does the same thing. Has anyone got anything I can do to get some of my music going again. I have also tried VCL & had the same results.

When Microsoft created Vista, they were trying to make pirating and illegal activity as hard as possible. I don't know exactly what they implemented, but that could be the reason that it won't read burned CD's. As far as not reading any CD's, that might just be a hardware problem on your computer. I would take it to a Computer Store (preferably not Best Buy) and ask them to take a look at it. Unless you feel like buying an external disc drive.

Thanks for replying, I can play DVD's that I burned myself it's just the CD's that have trouble. I have a external DVD-RW that plays both DVD & CD's, so it must be the DVD-ROM that is iffey. The PC is only a few weeks I will let the store sort it out.
