connecting to a network printer

I had to wipe my sons computer the other day. He is running Xp and his printer is the network printer for the house. I can not get my Vista laptop to connect to the printer. I can see it, but when I try to add it to my laptop it tells me access is denied...I am the administrator on both computers and the network....where is my problem?
