Error message 0x8000FFFF in Backup

When trying to use Windows Backup and Restore Centre I get the following error message: The backup did not complete successfully. An error occurred. The following information might help you resolve the error: Catastrophic failure (0x8000FFFF). It has never worked from day one. Has anyone else had this error message? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you sure the function you are trying to use is supported for your version of Vista?
