cannot print on network printer

I bought a new hp laptop for my business, it came with vista home preimum loaded (Big Mistake). Hooked up to my network via ethernet loaded my 3rd party driver many times. When I print a doc, it will print to my print que but instantly shows status error. Went back and forth between hp and company that builds the copier printer. driver is ok address ok, all other computers in the office print to same printer fine, all other pc's are running xp home and various apple computers running 0S 10.4 print fine. I did find that if i go the control panel and system folder and open the print spooler and turn it off and then turn it back on , all the docs will print just fine. But in order to print another doc you have to stop and restart the print spooler again. I'm sure Vista has some kind of stupid switch hidden somewhere that nobody knows anything about.
