Webcams
I rfecently bought a new webcam (Elecom UCAM-DLQ30HSV), which is supposed to be plug-and-play for Vista. When I plugged the camera into a USB port, however, my usual problem with peripherals started: namely, Vista began searching for the drivers and the PC came to hang, with the little "searching" icon rotating, but no other action taking place. So, I installed the drivers from the enclosed disk, and tried again, but with the same result. (Note: why won't Vista let me specify the file path instead of insisting on this automatic searching?)
I restarted the PC in safe mode, and this time installation seemed OK; when I restarted in normal mode, Vista said that the driver installation had been completed successfully. When I try to use the webcam with Skype, however, the webcam window is dark and blank, and the webcam light is OFF. What is the problem here, and how do I correct it so I can use my webcam with Skype?
