Error code C00D11C7 WMP

When trying to rip a cd, an error message ( C00D11C7 ) appears saying I do not have a required audio codec installed . The solution is to configure automotic updates. This is allready in place.
My O/S is Vista Home premium – SP1, and WMP 11.
I am using the default WMA format and it has worked up to now. If I change this tp MP3 or WAV
it works. But I prefer WMA for various reasons.
On research, this error seems not be an isolated one.


I hope there is a solution.

I am encountering exactly the same problem - Before, I used to rip all my CDs as I use my PC as a media centre. One day I tried to rip a CD and there it was - the codec problem. I have searched everywhere - as I have seen that you have too and am still at a loss. Have you had any success yet? I read that the only way to cure it is to "up"grade to XP - but I am loathed to do that - if VISTA is so rubbish, why are they not fixing it?

If you ever have a solution I'd appreciate a message and I'll do the same!

No success yet.

I spent 2/3 weeks discussing prob with HP as the system was pre-loaded. Nothing they advised worked.

I've given up and converted the default to MP3.
Allthough it still plays all my existing music that used wma.

I used other ripping software and tried to rip to wma but they all failed.

Maybe someone out there will discover our "message in a bottle" and help
