I bought a PC from Ebay and it came with the Vista Home Premium upgrade.After 3 weeks of problems I decided to delete the partitions ,there was two, and re install Vista. I get the message that I need to start the upgrade from the original XP. I tried this and keep getting the same message. I used my old XP Pro that does not have SP1 or 2 on it. What do I need to do?
There are a few things which you might or should do; The formost of which is to see how careless it was of you not to have a backup/wipe a hard-drive without first retriving your install key. Personally, I just can't believe that you completely reformatted a drive without first getting these simple things. I don't know that much about Ebay but you are going to need to contact the seller and get a copy of the install key. One thing I just thought of is if you are being asked for information pertaining to a previous version of windows then the copy of vista on your "new" computer was not a new complete copy. I think you should alert Ebay to the possibility that there is an unscrupulous reseller on their site who is breaking several copyright laws.
Yeah , pretty wreckless. I can remeber back in the day when you actually owned the parts in your computer. I already notified Microsoft because Ebay nor PayPal are going to upset their money tree. Microsoft said that 94% of the ebay auctions are not within liscensing guidlenes. I went back to XP Pro 64bit screw Vista.
